I love the m4400....the only reason I'm thinking of the m6500 is because I might give my son this m4400....he DOES want it :) I work on my machine as well as game, and the separate numpad will help me out, but basically, I just love these precisions. Might even take a deal of deal on a m6400.

Very good point. I don't need the camera and I missed that part of their advertisements.

    Performance Update:

Colin McRae Rally 2005 - Vostro 1220 (specs below) runs nearly maxed, over 45 FPS.

Civilization IV GotY Edition - Runs at native resolution on high settings at 35 FPS comfortably.

Side Note: Am I the only one who would love to see a 12.1 Inch Dell Precision Mobile Workstation (the 2500?), with an dedicated graphics card? I love the small form factor....

Add Armada 2526...runs fast but that game is not real graphic processor intensive...CPU means the most I think.

Can anyone do me a favour and tell me the height of the laptop when the screen is fully raised (from the base to the top of the screen)?

I'd like to buy a 1220, but I want to make sure the screen doesn't sit too low to the ground, like some 12.1" machines do. The specs say the depth is 9", which would make it the tallest 12 inch laptop on the market.

    Thanks.

Thanks....I'm getting ready to put CivIV on it right now...

@robgoren: I'll measure that if I can find something to do it with! :D

9 and 5/8 inches when the screen is open at a 90 degree angle to the base. I believe I had the screen exactly perpendicular to the flat surface the 1220 was siting on.

did you remove the protective sticker covering the lens? it significantly retards image quality. i've seen this happen to people on several notebooks. its the transparent/translucent sticker that protects the lens during shipping.

Double checked, no the lens is not covered with a sticker. It is the quality of the lens.
