    re iPod earbuds...that's what I hear people say....but I've never seen a problem with them....although, I'm not using them for Audiophile purposes, in which case I'd get a decent set...

    I don't know about the coupons, no clue

    My only other system is a Dell Precision M6400, but the Vostro 1220 is very solid. I replaced the hard drive, which entails breaking down the entire computer, and everything fits very well together - the only very minor quibble might be a tiny bit of keyboard flex - but my M6400 has the same problem.

    Overall, extremely solid build quality.


    About that Samsonite case I mentioned.... I looked for it all over the internet and on eBay, Amazon, etc. and I couldn't find it. A pity, it is a great looking case (has a main pocket, two zippered front pockets, and a velcro pocket in the back)

    If you find one, snag it! The official name for the case is Samsonite Netbook Computer Case.

    Wow that case sounds awesome, I have a precision m6400 its awesome! Its worth to upgrade to a m6500 right now. How much did you pay for your machine? Do Vostros have American support?

    Alright cool then, does anyone have the blu ray drive? If so does it give you any problems? Are you running windows 7 or Vista?

    Sheesh these threads for the 1220 die so quickly, also if you want a privacy filter you can get one from 3M.

    I'm running Windows 7 32 bit, and Ubuntu 9.10 x64...no problems with anything. I haven't seen anyone with a blue ray drive on this unit...it's overkill...i.e. the drive almost costs as much as the laptop.

    If you get it in the dell outlet then it isn't overkill! lol How are you? Why does the machine only have one speaker?
