ill post an audio file tomorrow, facts about the fan: always on, keeps laptop cool for the most part, not much air comes out, it is cool air but very loud.
had a gateway that got extremely hot and a lot more air coming out the side and was just as loud as this fan which i find weird. dell definitely cheaped for not putting in a quite fan.
thinking about returning it for the latitude or sorry to say this. but a mac because you cant notice the fan and stays relatively cool.

    Hello.

I've just received my vostro 3500, and was wondering if anyone have managed to switch from the Nvidia GPU to the intel integrated GPU (or at least to manage the profiles of the GPU) to have less consumption (and gain time on batery) ?

Is it possible to have a kind of 'optimus' working on the vostros ?

    Thx, and rgds

Do you think they'll add an option later on to get higher resolutions?

I am thinking about buying the Vostro 3400 with the Core i5 520m and I have a few questions. What battery life are you guys getting with the 6-cell and/or the 9-cell battery? How are the viewing angles on the display and how is the resolution without it being WXGA+? And what do you think of Dell's warranties? Thanks!

I just got the 3400 fast track option which has the Core i5 430m. So far the battery life with the 6-cell seems to be anywhere from 3-3.5 hours, thats with wifi on and screen brightness at around 60% or so. The viewing angles seem very good to me, I'm loving the anti-glare screen (generally I dont watch movies or anything else that really need to be super crisp to need a glossy display). Overall i'm enjoying the laptop - it does seem to be longer (from say the left to the right side) than I expected, I havent had a 14 inch laptop since I had an HP a couple years ago so it might simply be because i've been used to using 13inch laptops. Also I love the keyboard - dont notice the flex at all and the keys are hard and have great feedback. One odd thing I have noticed is right above the webcam if i grab that part to open up the lid it clicks kinda of like there is a button there, but its a Dell so i'm not that suprised.

Overall I think its a great value, good screen, keyboard and body. Not great battery life but its not bad either.
