    Running a QX9300 + Vista x64 + 8GB here as well.
Dell released a new Notebook System Software yesterday that specifically targets hibernation, suspend, black screens & blue screen errors, among other things such as selective USB ports powering up, and audio power output.
Over the past 12 hours I've also experienced the fan coming on far less often; I'm on BIOS A12.
This looks like a worthwhile update, I've posted the link for x64 Vista below.
    Hope that helps.

How did you run the update? Isn't there some kind of a DELL pecking order for these drivers?

Your beloved Vista at work ;) or, very bad luck with flaky ram or something like that. You'd better stick with support on this one. BTW, you have other services and DAEMONS running besides MS, Intel, and Nvidia I promise you. Go to ADMIN>Services and see what's starting up. Also, run an MSconfig and see what crap is in there if you haven't. I see this is your first post.....welcome!

Thanks for the quick response all. I just ran the system update utility posted. I've been watching the dell support site regularly but didn't see that update. In regard to what other services I have running, the answer is not much. I've turned everything off including with msconfig that is not intel, nvidea or MS specific. I also uninstalled my kaspersky AV just to see if that possibly had anything to do with the problem. I have run full dell diagnostics a couple of times and it doesn't come up with any memory problems. I'll run with the new system utility software installed and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

There is if your doing a clean install of your OS...after that there isn't really any order, the NSS mentioned above is the thing you need to install first on a fresh OS but if we had to keep doing that you'd have to do a clean install everytime a new driver comes out

Installed dell update and restarted. 30 minutes later full lockup. My Dell sales rep suggested going back to x86. Is it possible this is just the 3rd lemon in a row? 3rd bad M4400 out of 3 in two months isn't encouraging....

At this point I'd be calling Father Merrin rather than Tech Support.
