Yeah! What is that about? Whatever happened to just charging $25 and get the backlight option for the keyboard? Now you just have to move to a higher cost package. And its the same deal with the colour options as well!!

I ordered our Vostro 3700 this week in Austria, the backlit keyboard was preconfigured. In fact, there was no choice to have a standard keyboard (which I would never choose once you got used to a backlit one).

Not sure what the issue is? Its 1600 x 900, which is the standard for the latest crop of 16:9 17" screen laptops. Better than the 1400 x 900 model you mention in your sig.

I think he's referring to the erroneous description on Dell website. It says
    "17.3 inch High Definition LED Display (1366 x 768) with Anti-Glare"
but as others have pointed out, it's a higher resolution.

meh, no need to apologize. I would think a large corporation like Dell would be able to update their site with correct information. Makes me wonder if they bother doing any proofreading

You think Dell is bad? Take a gander at the HP Canada shopping site. You'll be hard pressed to find specs that are accurate and up-to-date. Lenovo is also pretty bad, but nothing beats HP. Pretty sad for being the world leading computer manufacturer.

On the Vostro 3700, does anyone know what the Nvidia GT 330M, 1GB Graphics compare to?

The $888 Vostro 3700 package is pretty sweet.

All the Vostro 3300s on Dell's website still seem to include the optical drive. Where can you get a version without it?

Don't think you can yet. Also can't see the option for the 4-Cell battey in the 3500 which brings the weight down to 2.3kg.
