My estimated ship date was 8/15/07. It looks that it will be in my hands at this point long before that. Specs below.

hmm basically the same as mine but I got mine with vista home premium. So its possible that the ones that are not altered get completed way before ones that are configured differently.

That is what I was thinking. The package was so good I had no reason to change anything. I was hoping it would ship faster that way. But then I heard that there was a back order on the TrueLife screen. Must not be the case anymore.

bit of an update. dell is going to send me an advance replacement for my vostro 1500 due to the screen buzzing issue. Their tech support has been good.

Anyone notice that they've dropped the price on the 8600M GT video card from $169 to $100 just recently. I guess that after they realized it was wrong to advertise it as a DD3R card (actually a DDR2), that it was wrong to overcharge for it as well. I guess it's time to get on the phone and get my refund...and if not I'll return and reorder.

no they didn't change the price, it's still $200 to go from x3100 to 8600gt. they used to charge $30 for the upgrade from x3100 to 8400, and another 169 for 8600. Now its 99 for 8400 and another 100 for 8600.

besides the smart-package price went up considerably.

Hmm....Following this Smart Value link http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=bqdwk2j&cs=04&dgvcode=ss&c=US&l=EN

All of the prices for my configuration remained the same, while the 8600 I ordered cost me $169, I now see it at $100. I configured my system to the same specs as before and the resulting price was $69 less. However, if you do the config from dell's main page, there is no basic change from before. Maybe there's something I'm missing though.

Although I see from your reply that I probably wont be able to get a refund and that I'll likely have to reorder to get my money back, but I'll post it if I succeed.
