My est ship date was 8/8... Acutually shipped on 7/27. If you had WXGA+ it there is less of a delay

thank you guys for the response...

but im feel its rather hot nearby the airvents...i really mean uncomfortably hot...well...it really can be hot even during normal idle function and whn im playing music...sometimes if i played games it lagged.....i really regret buying Vista..and worse still i dont know how to "upgrade" it to XP...i have read the tutorials..but no idea how.....

the air vents for the vostro is nearby the left edge...and when its hot...the left side of the keyboard gets hot too....(i mean hot..not warm)...

is it because of my graphics card???

    specs...intel core2duo t5470,120 SATA HDD,NVidia 8600m GT

I have another question too...there are some who say that changing the values of Hard Disk in the BIOS from ATA to AHCI increases the speed of the startup by leaps and bounds......

This may be an obvious question, but why isnt anybody getting the 1700? as i figured it its only about 100$ more than the 15.4" version, and comes with a better battery(youll probably need it with that 17" screen)

So are the only reasons people are passing on it size/weight and battery life? any other drawbacks?

I didn't get the 1700 because it isn't offered in Australia. Plus I'm assuming it'd be too heavy for my liking.

Because if you're somebody who has to carry around a laptop with you all day, you quickly learn the value of the less bulky, the better.

And weight is only half of it, carrying around a 17" laptop is like hauling around a dinner tray strapped to your back. It really isn't fun trying to maneuvering around carrying something like that.

Yeah the only reasons I didn't get one is because of size and weight. Maybe if I wasn't going to haul it around normally and just use it almost like a desktop I would have gotten it but I need one to carry around with me every day. I almost worry about my 1500 being to big but I can't bring myself to give up the 8600GT plus I would like the bigger screen.

Actually the first computer I found out you could get a GC as good as the 8600GT on was the 1700 and I was elated. I would have bought it right then had it not been for the extra $ but obviously it was only a matter of minutes before I found the 1500 with the same config. Let's just say I was one happy camper at that point. ;) Now if I could just get my laptop here..

Cool i figured that, and after thinking about it, i dont think i would appreciate a 17" lappy either, i think ill use it about 70 percent at home, but i have a 22" monitor to hook it up to anyway... :)
