thank you guys for the response...

but im feel its rather hot nearby the airvents...i really mean uncomfortably hot...well...it really can be hot even during normal idle function and whn im playing music...sometimes if i played games it lagged.....i really regret buying Vista..and worse still i dont know how to "upgrade" it to XP...i have read the tutorials..but no idea how.....

the air vents for the vostro is nearby the left edge...and when its hot...the left side of the keyboard gets hot too....(i mean hot..not warm)...

is it because of my graphics card???

    specs...intel core2duo t5470 1.6ghz,120 SATA HDD 5400rpm,NVidia 8600m GT,2gb ram...windows vista home basic

I have another question too...there are some who say that changing the values of Hard Disk in the BIOS from ATA to AHCI increases the speed of the startup by leaps and bounds......

I wanted to get the 1400, but those *****es at Dell didn't offer XP on it. So much for getting the smallest possible...

Yeah, I ordered truelife. If i knew this was going to be such a problem I would have went with whatever they had in stock. Its just odd how people who ordered after us already HAVE their laptops lol

Do Vostro 1400's without the webcam have a built-in microphone, or does a microphone only come bundled with the webcam?

Does one really need to run a Small Business in order to be able to order a Vostro (over the online store)?

Yeah I was debating on weather or not to get truelife but didn't hear about the delays until after I ordered. If I knew it would delay it at all I would have certainly gone with the regular screen.

To answer my own question: Dell CS just wrote back, saying:

"...in order to purchase under the Small Business Division you must be a registered business with less than 200 employees and/or have a Tax Id number."

So if anyone else browsing this thread had the same thing in mind, above is the answer.

    Thats rubbish mate.

Just call them up and order over the phone.

I bought the 1700 and i dont have my own business.

So have most of the people on here lol. In fact i could probably say 100% of the guys in here who have vostros on order dont have their own companies.

If they do, well they should be running it rather than spending time in here :D

^^ What he said. I heard most on here just put their names for the "business" part.
