yikes, sorry to say this but this price sucks. This is $140 more than what I sold my much better equipped (TL-60, 2GB) Inspiron 1501.
Actually Vista is not was bad as you think, my Inspiron 1501 had Vista Home Premium and it ran just fine.

Loved the look and feel.

Quickly distrusted , disliked, the orwellian nature of Vista. Big brother is watching!!

so there she sat with me not really liking her. Pulling my hair out over what to do. Try to like vista? Try to replace OS? Kick it to the curb for a D630?



Used lightflux's total guide to XP 1420 (with a few vostro specific tweaks that are covered) and now I LOVE it!

whooohoo Im so pumped right now.. My lappy is finally in the boxing stage If it gets shipped out today then I might be able to get it friday but if not then next week. Its good to actually hear the machine say something else then currently in the build stage.

 

hmm, i just got mine today but i dont think it has a built-in mic... for vista, how do i bring the task manager without doing ctrl alt delete?

 

I just checked and my build has dropped from 13100 swedish crowns to 12000 since July 16 when I placed my order. Delivery has been postponed to August 21 and it is still in pre-production. I could get a faster proc and still be 100 SEK cheaper if I can cancel and re-order.

Anyone who tried? I believe changing the current order does not work (think I read it here). Thanks for any and all input!

 

hmm i just boot it but i cant connect to wireless. help lol. i got the vostro 1400 and my internet provider is verizon. =(

 

do you have a wireless router? and did you turn on your wireless router(radio is off by default in some), and if its on did you enter the correct password(assuming its a protected network)

 

For those of you who don't know, had mine less then a week, and already the motherboard fried :/. Have to wait 2 more weeks (yeah, right) for a replacement unit to come.

 

Was there any warning ?

 

No. I was just surfing NeoGAF when "Click" and it shut off and won't turn back on.
