My only real gripe with the 1400 is Dell using Alps touch pads instead of Synaptics.

    The alps truly sucks.

Getting my Vostro today. Specs should be in signature. Got all that with a 2yr next-day on-site and 2yr accident coverage for $1,213. Love having a small business. I'll try it out over the next couple of days, and let you guys know. Not sure how to post pics on here yet, but I'll figure it out. I have the 9 cell batt so I'm sure you all want to see that. I'll try to test it out on SWKOTOR 1, SWKOTOR 2, Morrowind, and HL2. Look for a review in a couple of days. By the way, my DHL 3-5 day ground got here in 2 days by air. Also a reason I love my sales rep.

I could not find a better machne for the money so I placed a new order since Dell cancelled my old... Ordered August 9 and according to the email I will get it September 3. The homepage says it will take 6+ weeks so this will be interesting.

Saved about $200 on the same setup compared to the old order placed July 16.

I'm pretty impressed with the 1400. Battery barely moves and im slowly adjusting to the bigger 1280x800 resolution matte screen. Dell is shipping me out a wxga+ TL so I'll be able to try the 1440x900 reso and return whichever I don't like.

I really would have loved a matte 1440x900 reso but can't win em all.

Got mine 1500 yesterday 2nd day shipping, T5470, 1gb, 120gb, wxga truelife, 6cell, screen is amazing, not grainy at all (I saw a toshiba 14" grainy screen and a macbook pro 15" grainy screen before,so I know how grainy LCD would look like). Synaptics touch pad, not alps. problem is hard drive is noisy and will freeze every 5 minutes and each lasts like a minute, thats painful! I'm returning it soon.

I have another 1500 coming in today, also 2nd day shipping with pretty much the same specs except for a upgrade to wxga+ lcd. I will post some screen comparison pics (brightness, contrast, graininess if any) if anyone is interested.
