After almost a week playing with Vista I have to say that I am impressed so far.
Remember the naggin alert screens? Well I figured out how to turn them off and everything seems fine, i feel like i'm running XP with better eyecandy.

The programs I have installed so far and work without any problems are:

    Mozilla Firefox
    Microsoft Office 2003
    Adobe Photoshop CS3
My HP All in one printer 1315xi Drivers
    Google Picasa2
    VLC Media Player
    uTorrent
    Spybot Search & Destroy.
    Nero Ultra 7
    WinRAR
    Daemon Tools
    Gmail Notifier.

    :)

Oh yeah.. I also disabled the Widgets or Gadgets feature...because I find that feature pretty much useless.

How did you turn those alert screens off because I've played with Vista on my E1705 and went back to XP because they are so annoying and was dreading having those issues with my new lappie.

I am going to try but the only thing I don't like so far about buying through small business is their hours so I will try as soon as they open up again.

BTW I about **** my pants when I called this morning and my laptop was in kitting and called back half hour later and was back in build then less then an hour it was in kitting. I'm soo excited I really wished I woulda had a chance to get them to upgrade my shipping because these next few days are gonna be hard to wait for.

in the search bar type "msconfig"
go select tool or something like that, and go down to disable UAP and enable that.

Click on the Start button, Type in "msconfig" in the search bar, Open it. Click on the "Tools" Tab. Then click on the "Disable UAC" and click on the "Launch" button.

Restart your computer :) and you are set!

You can alway enable it again, just following the same steps above and click on the "Enable UAC" then restart.

I don't think you would like that thought... :)

I'm working up a review of my 1500. Anyone have questions? Only game I have with me right now is Oblivion for testing.

Does anyone who owns a Vostro wish that he/she had purchased an Inspiron instead? (Or does anyone who has owns an Inspiron wish that he/she had purchased a Vostro instead?)

I have quotes right now for both the Vostro 1400 and the Inspiron 1420 - the two divisions of Dell have negotiated prices over the phone that are very close to each other, so price is not the issue.

I think I like the look of the Vostro better, and having better support from the small business sector of Dell.

I'm not concerned about peripherals such as differences in the software provided, but only about the hardware, including both the appearance and the performance of the notebooks themselves.

(A looser battery, as mentioned in the Vostro, wouldn't bother me.)

It would be a great help to know about owners who would make the same choice for a Vostro again, and also about owners who would choose an Inspiron instead, if they had a chance to go back in time and change their notebook orders!

    Thanks for your help!
