I bought a Vostro 1500, and today I saw my friends Inspiron 1520... Personally, I'm happy I bought the Vostro... Cheaper, better tech support, better build quality(Im told the cover is metal, but its hard to tell unless I took it off and havent gotten around to it so I cant confirm this), and I think it looks better.

Yup I also bought a Vostro yesterday (Vostro 1500). It was £300 cheaper than the Inspiron with the same spec! Also had the business warranty, which is on-site and not return to base....

Now just got to wait for the thing! September 10th latest, or so they say

Why do you hope I'm kidding? There are likely many people that got the $70 for upgrading their warranty or other things that really have no use for them. I'm just throwin it out there.

you are basically asking them to give you $70 dollars. Even if they have no real use for it, they can buy $71 dollars worse of Dell products for $1

My thoughts were to actually compensate them for it for a smaller amount and they'd get something they wanted and I'd get what I wanted cheaper for the list of things I want. It is logical to me sorry it is not to you!

Just to steer this thread back OT...

I ordered my Vostro 1500 yesterday (16th August) and just received the ORDER CONFIRMATION email from Dell with an EDD of 27th August :)
Not too bad considering everything that's going on supply-wise with Dell at the moment.

fwiw these are the specs I chose:

    Vostro 1500
    T7500 2.2GHz
    3GB RAM
    160GB 7200rpm HDD
    WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TruLife screen
    Vista Ultimate 32bit
    Bluetooth module
    Intel Wireless-N card
    9-cell 85Whr battery
    Nvidia 8600 GT 256MB graphics
    2MP web-cam
    free BT mouse
    free BT headset
    3yr BusinessCare Premium warranty
    etc etc... (the usual stuff)

Reckon I can cause some havoc with that setup :D
