Anybody knows what would be the windows vista performance index with the 5470 cpu? (which btw intel.com does not have any information on)

^No idea, because I do not believe that anyone has actually received a Vostro yet, and the 5470 is not available in Inspirons...

^Yes, the 5470 is a Santa Rosa processor, with a 800mhz FSB, which I assume makes it better than the 5250 and 5450 available on the Inspirons, which only feature 667mhz FSB's.

I do find it odd that I cannot find any mention of the T5470 on the Intel website...

For overclocking is it better to have a high multiplier or a low multiplier. If I'm not mistaken, the multi on the T5470 should be 8x. Anyone overclocked it yet?

    Hey Future Vostro Owners

I'm trying to configure a laptop with an 8600m GT on the cheap, so I'm looking at the Vostro 1500. So far, this looks like my setup.

    1280x800
    T5470
1GB of memory (will upgrade later)
    8600m GT
    120GB hard drive
    2 year warranty
    bluetooth/wireless 802.11a/g
    $877 before taxes. free shipping

I basically just used this link and upgraded the video card, warranty, bluetooth, and wireless card.

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bqdwk2j&s=bsd

Is this a good deal, or are there any ways to get a similar configuration for cheaper? Before I pull the trigger, I just wanna check and see if anyone sees any better deals that I missed.

    Thanks
