So, is anybody running Windows 7 beta yet? I'm curious how it's running.

yup, downloaded from technet this morning......really flies on the covet :)

One thing though,it asks you to install the win 7 beta nvidia driver ...........

    DON'T,
    it's awful,
cant get decent brightness and the colours are really bad.

just install the vista driver instead

Hard to tell; I suspect a big part is people having figured out, mostly on their own, how to fix most of the problems...

Well, I am getting a system exchange coming in within the next few days, hopefully. My Covet was exhibiting an alarming pattern of problem creep, starting with strange behavior of the Ambient Light Sensor, to various BSODs, none of this with any rhyme or reason. I hope machine #2 is better... :(

P.S.: For example, on my current Covet, I just tried to install the Dell Connection manager, and enabled the WWAN card (which I had disabled before). Upon reboot, this threw the machine into a loop of BSODs (with CI.dll indicated on the bluescreen, which has something to do with a code integrity check Vista perfroms). It took a couple of tries, resetting the BIOS to default settings, trying Safe Mode, etc., to get the machine to finally boot. Not good...

I installed the drivers just to see what you were talking about and the exact same thing happens when I load the new laptopvideo2go.com 185.20 drivers on Vista 64.

I'm sad, I called dell and canceled my order for my M6400. It sat in the build stage for almost 2 weeks and then the 'kitting' stage for another week. In the meantime I ordered two (2) E6400's and they arrived just fine with only one day of build time and the usual 3 days of boxing. Truly a sad day.

I've been using my "re loaded" Covet for a couple of weeks and the problems that I had seem to be gone. I did not load any of the Dell Control Point garbage. I have yet to install office/vm workstation/etc. Just nervous to put that time back into it.

It has been playing WoW at full detail and res and World at War at full res like a champ.

And how are you finding the keyboard? Any problems with the sharpness?

    Regards,
    Simon
