I have this problem. The way my arms rest and shoulder width, my wrists/forearms rest on the corners and it cuts/irritates my forearms after a bit. I use little soft pads to help alleviate the problem but the corners, as is, are wickedly sharp.

I think I suggested before you put a gel full sized keyboard pad across the bottom of the palmrest and the overhang exactly covers up the sharp corners. Try it, should work.

Intoxicate - I don't think it is actually (assuming we are talking about 1 cm to the left of the webcam). I covered it up on both machines and nothing happened. However, I've just run the webcam on my new machine (the one with the 'light' hole) and guess what ---- It lights up to show that the webcam is on! This didn't happen on my old machine (which I reinstalled though)

So, I still don't know why one machine has a black hole to the left of the webcam and my new one has a white one not a black one.

Unfortunately I can't figure out how to turn on the webcam on my old machine! (It has no entry in the DCP) I may have to download 'webcam central' I think

    EDIT:
Found the answer - On my original Covet when the webcam comes on there is a dim orangey glow from that hole to indicate the cam is on (I installed webcam central). On the new version there is a much brighter white light. It does mean the light hole doesn't blend in when off though. I'm not sure if they changed components or whether some filter has fallen off mine. Anyone else with the white light?

Nope, the ALS is at the bottom of the bezel, somewhat left of the center.

    I was wrong!
I just installed the Webcam Central and activated the ambient light sensor :D The ambient light sensor is as Pirx wrote at the bottom left of the screen. (That's why it works so bad, when you have strong light behind your back, so the light only gets to the upper part of the screen).

My indicator light is very dull and more orange than white.

McMaster-Carr sells a product called "Sorbothane". It comes in a range of thickness from 1/8" to 1.5". It aslo comes in a range of durometers(relative harness). 70 durometer would probly work fine for fabricating a pad for your forearms.
