I'm annoyed by everything switching to so called "glossy" :(

Oh well, as long as it has LED backlighting.

Glossy isnt as bad as people make it to be.
I have noticed for myself that with glossy screen you do get better black levels and richer saturations when you compare with matte and i think glossy is the better candidate for movies, games or basically things to do with moving frames.
One can also argue that it does a good job just as matte screeens when rendering images but as i said its debatable.

The only annoyance is the reflectiveness which is something i have grown accustom too and is really down to people's preferences

check this short piece on gloss vs matte

You can always buy an anti-glare cover such as one from Viewguard.

There are two RGB LED screens for M6400. So far, only Covet has the edge to edge.

Just ordered my Covet today. Anyone running XP64 or Linux on theirs?

    Just as an FYI the
17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200) RGB LED LCD Display [add $159]

is now available, again?, for the "normal" M6400. You no longer need to buy a Covet to get LED. It looks like this feature comes as goes as inventory shows up. At any rate I'm at least a month away from buying mine. I just sold my MBP for $1200 and I want to save up another grand to go on top of that.

DO NOT run XP64. You will regret it badly. There are pretty serious compatibility issues with 32-bit apps on XP64. You would be better off running Vista64.
