    @theZoid: I compared it with webcams on a Asus 1000he netbook and my two-year old HP laptop, both laptops produced much clearer images with better color than the Votro 1220.

    I then called up someone on Skype using the three laptops and asked him to rate the video quality, the Votro 1220 is the worst. This is Sad!!!

    Hey what do you want it is a small computer, made for mobile business its not always to have the same type of things that you want a larger machine, if you want a better webcam you might as well purchase one.

    @freedom16

    I don't mean to be too critical on Vostro 1220, but since I own one, I just want it to be the best portable that it could have been.

    That being said, I don't think your argument is valid; the Asus netbook is both smaller and cheaper (much cheaper) than the V1220, yet it has a superior webcam with very clear image and color. Dell could have selected a better lens for the laptop,without adding extra costs.

    True i do agree they could of made it better, most of the time i just make videos through the webcam and upload it on youtube. Eventually i will buy a 1340. Yes asus do have cheaper computers with better webcams i will admit but dell was thinking probably eh its just business they don't need to have that. Vostro's are very popular for small business.

    I tend to agree. It is interesting that in a discussion of a computer marketed for small business application that most of the recent discussion has been on blu ray, sound quality and webcam. Not bad mind you, just interesting.

    Well, considering that Dell's marketing insists on the fact that users will "Enjoy remote collaboration in and out of the office via the optional 1.3 megapixel camera and digital microphone with Dell Video Chat software. Only Dell offers a complete videoconferencing solution pre-built into its small-business laptops.", the quality of the webcam is a relevant topic for business use.

    Yes it is interesting how much dell allows you to customize a notebook, especially how young the Vostro line is, they were the first ones to create a small business department. Its the future of business notebooks that lenovo finally is listening to.

    All in all, I really like the 1220....also, my next will be an m6500 so I'm sticking with Dell I guess...if not, Lenovo would be it for sure.

    Yeah i love dell, i sold my m1530 i wasn't using it and whatever you know better money in my pocket, the only reason why that machine is so expensive is because of the core i7 and man its powerful its a Juggernaut, nothing can stop it. I have a precision m6400 great machine! I will consider getting another precision workstation when the newer core i7 comes out, next generation next year most likely. The top of the line precision seems to be always updated around this time of the year. I am interested in how the quadro 3800m plays games and how much of a difference it is between the 3700m which from what i saw was not anything. Yeah i am thinking of getting a thinkpad t400s cause of the weight it being streamline idk yet. How is the precision m4400? Yeah you love business notebooks like i do.
