Latitude E4310 questions for new purchase

I bought mine from the Outlet for $539 before tax. It came with everything except a backlit keyboard and a dvd burner.

I've changed a dvd burner before in my old Inspiron 1520, I'm assuming the process is similar? Plug and play?

I've also changed my keyboard on the 1520. Is it an easy process to do this on the E4310? Also, is the backlit keyboard universal for all Latitude laptops?
I see the part number on Dell's website is "Internal English Backlit Keyboard ENGBL"

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

 

The E4310 uses a 9.5mm (3/8") thick SATA burner. You can look in the E4300 / E4310 SATA driver downloads for a list of compatible drives.

I assume that the E4310 keyboard is the same as the E4300 keyboard (it looks the same) in which case you can look for the E4300 backlit keyboard on ebay. The E43x0 keyboard is different from the E6xx0 keyboard.

Wow, call me jealous. The only thing on what passes for an outlet in Canada
are a bunch of E4300s for 1500$ each. If the E4310 weren't over 2000$ I'd
have bought one a long time ago.

Yes. I was just suggesting the list that Dell has used because tracking down the compatible drives can be a little difficult.

Awesome, thanks a ton! Already have a bunch of stuff coming for this laptop. Can't wait until it arrives. Hoping it will hold up better going back and forth to school vs my Studio XPS 16. And hopefully a LOT lighter!

The website and order confirmation email list the i5-540m I saw at the time I ordered. The order status on the website lists the i5-520m. Should I be concerned or just hope it's listed wrong? It's refurbished, so I don't think they would change the part? Also, I can't seem to tell the color of the laptop cover: black, red, or blue.

I would assume that the lack of mention of blue or red means that it is the standard colour.

It looks like a 50% chance that you will get the i5-520M CPU. You could send it back but getting any E4310 is a bargain at the price you paid.

If I get the i5-520m, I'll give them a call and see what they'll do. They'll likely just offer to refund $50 to get me to keep the laptop, which I'll gladly do. I don't think there is much of a performance boost from the 520m to the 540m anyway.
