Certain brands have caused problems to their owners but Intel has a good track record. My current SSD (Kingston V+) is approaching its first birthday and still performing well and I also have an older Samsung SSD which is running fine.

Unfortunately most of the complaints of dying SSDs have come from OCZ Technology. Their recent fiasco of handling the 25 nm transition has made shudder me away from OCZ. They purposely deceive customers into buying an SSD and do not label which is 34 nm and 25 nm (25 nm last ALOT shorter) yet they charge the same prices. My future SSD purchases will be from other vendors, Intel, Corsair who seem to be legitimate companies.

Ok, so I bought the TS-U633J drive off of eBay. It has the SAME bit of metal that the other one had, and will not fit inside of the laptop! Any ideas? Dell chat was worthless.

Dell have evidently got a customised version of the burners. Time to get out a screwdriver and/or saw?

Got the bit of metal removed with a dremel. Haven't had a chance to see if it fits yet, but it should. Also had to use the old DVD ROM faceplate with the new drive, since the U633J had a piece of the bezel removed for the ejection mechanism.
