Half the life of the 6 cell. I would put it at 2 -3 hours depending on usage.

One advantage of the E4300, in my opinion, is the 1280 x 800 display. The P series CPU is also, in my experience, slightly more frugal than the standard voltage Core i CPUs.

3 Cell battery is around 3 hours of normal mixed use. We have a guy here that swears he can get almost 4 with his E4300 on his very tweaked system.

E4300 is better if you want the extra height of the 1280x800 screen, firewire, and separate mic/headphone ports.

E4310 is better if you want a faster processor, faster graphics, and the few extra overall pixels on the 1366x768 screen.

One thing I have noticed on the E4310 is that it does not muffle the sound of the hard drive at all. Right now I have a Seagate 500gb 7200rpm drive in it and you can definitely hear it do its thing. I never noticed this on the other drives I had in it though.

Other than the small height of the screen, I love my E4310. You get used to it after awhile though. I only notice if I've been using my XPS 1645 with the 1920x1080 res the same day.

the only thing is that the e4300 is not that much cheaper at the outlet and it's a generation older, I don't understand why. I can get an e4310 for just as much, so i dont really know what to do.

what are the alternatives to the e4310 in terms of weight, power and price range?

Just got around to attempting to install the E4300 backlit keyboard.

It doesn't fit into the 4310. There's extra metal sticking out of the back of it and the screw holes do not line up.

I can't seem to find ANY replacement keyboards for the E4310 online, backlit or not.

That's bad news. Evidently the change to the chassis to hold that extra wide display caused the keyboard to be changed. Blame the display manufacturers.

Yeah. I relisted it on eBay. Hopefully I can sell it to someone who has an E4300.

Dell wants $55 for the backlit keyboard - I'm not sure I want it that badly.

I finally got the backlit keyboard delivered today.

For anyone else that might be interested, the correct part#/description of the E4310 backlit keyboard is as follows:

    C0YTJ Keyboard,83,United States,English,Black,ESDB2 $54.99

I gave up on getting the ribbon cable for the internal bluetooth. The alternate part# from Dell is out of stock too. I just ordered a 49¢ USB stub bluetooth adapter from Meritline a couple days ago. Hopefully it works for the few times I need bluetooth.

Jedis, where did you order your keyboard? Searching with C0YTJ takes me nowhere. KB-NN87J does, but that one is very expensive: around 130 Euro / 180 USD and I cannot find a shop that has it on stock.

You need to go into the Dell Parts chat and specifically ask them to order that part # for you. It's not available on the website, but they are able to place the order.
