That's like my buddy who tells everyone not to get a Dell because of one bad experience with it. In that case, no one should buy any brand of laptop because there's always going to someone with a bad unit. Even more ignorant if your wife's colleagues never even owned a Latitude model.
$600 shipped after tax is too much for a laptop with a core i5 540m, WWAN, etc. that has the solid construction of a business line laptop??? AND a 3 year warranty to top it off. If they think it's too much, tell them to find a comparable laptop for the same price. I would actually really be interested to know if they can come up with any substitutes.

I can't help but think these colleagues are Apple owners...

I think what you said is quite pertinent and reasonable. Let them to say, I never judge a brand according to baseless prejudice.

You've got a bargain for something that is built to last (metal, not plastic) and, if there is a problem during the next 3 years, someone will come and fix it.

Hi guys, I just bought the E4310. I'm wondering if it's able to boot from USB drive since I'm looking forward to install linux on my USB drive and play with it on the E4310. Thanks

I don't believe there's any reason why you wouldn't be able to. Just hit F12 on startup and change the boot order.

3 Dell Reps later, and I was able to find one that could get me the Dell part #'s for adding internal bluetooth to the E4310:

    1 D35VW Assembly,Cable,Bluetooth,375,E4310 $4.99
    1 G9M5X Card,Wireless,375,Bluetooth,Foxconn $7.99

Thanks for the replies. I just got my E4310. I really like its size and weight but I'm struggling with the 2 fingers touchpad scrolling feature. I can't scroll with it. It doesn't seem to be as responsive as my old macbook pro. Is there anything I need to update like drivers or something? I updated my BIOS to A03 but it doesn't seem to help.

When I ordered the laptop, it doesn't have a webcam. However, there is a webcam on top of my laptop and it doesn't seem to work. Is there anyway to know if there is actually a webcam or it's just the case? I checked device manager and there is no unknown device or anything.

Try turning off "touch check" and "tap to click" under the pointing stick (not touchpad) settings. I also disabled single finger gestures and all multi finger gestures except for 2finger scrolling. That made mine a little more responsive.

can anybody tell me the battery life of the 3 cell?
and why all the e4310 at the outlet don't have the webcam?

is it true that the e4300 is better than the new one?
