Never saw one that low. Been looking at the 700-900 configurations with SSDs for a few weeks now and recommending them to friends and family looking for fast and rugged small footprint systems.

I have had the E6400 and E6500 as second computers over the past couple of years, but prefer the E4310 over them. Just as fast for everyday tasks in Windows 7, but smaller and better battery life. You can also open the E4310 in coach class on an airplane, I wasn't always able to open the E6500.

Have also been using a Lenovo X201 tablet which is the same as the X201 ultra-portable. I posted comparisons between the two machines before, but at the end of the day I just rarely used the X201. I passed it on for an intern to use. She was happy to not have to lug the old M90 around any more.

Not sure of how I got off on a tangent there...

Yeah, I was shocked and excited when I found it on the Outlet.

I was at work, killing time, seeing what I could find. When I, jokingly, clicked all of the options I wanted, 6 cell, 4gb ram, bluetooth, fingerprint reader, Intel 6300 wifi, webcam, and the Intel Vpro Adv Mgmt -- I got an adrenaline rush and whipped out my credit card BEFORE the 15 minute window expired and it got dumped back into the Outlet pool. My heart was beating until I got the "order accepted screen". :p

I configured it brand new and it's $1800 brand new. The only upgrades I need are backlit keyboard (already on the way, got it from eBay for $18), a dvd burner (my old one from my Inspiron 1520 might work, not sure on the size), and if I can find a good deal down the road, a larger hard drive (though this is just for school stuff and browsing the web - my Studio XPS 1645 is my main machine).

I was (and still am) stoked that I got such a great machine for such a cheap price. I just really hope it shows up with the i5-540m that was listed on the website, originally!

Hey Jedis, I got the same setup too! My email stated i5-540 but Dell website shows the i5-520 as well. Haha. If they send us the i5-520 I will call in and complain. Hopefully can get a like a 50 discount. That would be perfect!!! Regardless, I think we got an awesome deal.

Jedis, did you find this deal on Slickdeals? I got a very similar E4310 for $616 after taxes, also to replace my SXPS 16 that I just sold on CL. God I hated my XPS. Anyways, my E4310 has nearly identical specs to yours, only mine has the Dell 1501 802.11b/g/n card, Dell Bluetooth 375, DVD rewritable drive, 4GB DDR3 1066MHz, Win 7 Pro 32-bit, and supposedly no webcam (wasn't listed in specs). I see that your machine has the Dell Webcam software, but doesn't list a webcam in the specs? Also, my order status shows the correct i5-540M. I'm hoping Dell got everything right...

    Yup :)

I just got a quote from Dell Parts for a dvd burner for this laptop:

    8X DVD+/-RW for Latitude E4310, Customer Install (313-9811) ...... $125.00

Wow. That is ridiculous. There might be some non-Dell varieties that are still compatible though.

In regards to your question about the webcam, I believe they should all come with it integrated... I'm assuming mine has it, since it has webcam software included. However, my order status lists part #'s in a different format and thus I can't match the part # below to what I have.

    13.3" WXGA(1366x768) Anti-Glare LED w/ Camera, WWAN Ready, Slate Silver, Latitude E4310 (320-9878)

    EDIT: Mine does have it:

1 1C383 Module, Software, Creative Camera, Business, 1.4, Factory Install
1 6NWJK Module, Liquid Crystal Display, 13.3HDF, Camera, Wireless Wide Area Network, Silver
1 839RM Module, KIT..., Software, Creative Camera, Business, 1.4

Interesting. Nowhere in my order status is there a webcam listed, though. Not even webcam software. I believe it is an optional extra. I would be awesome if I did get one as long as I don't get screwed on the other components.
