Does anyone know anything about an upgrade to the Precision 7710 that will offer the option of the NVIDIA m5500m graphics adapter?

    Thanks

Just a quick update. I'm now up and running on the 7510.

I ordered the lithium polymer battery. As others have mentioned, the label on the battery doesn't mention "polymer" anywhere. It says "Standard Rechargeable Li-ion Battery", type MFKVP. However, in the BIOS it is clearly identified as a "long life battery", and it does not have any charging options like express charge that you get on the "regular" battery.

Hi guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 7710 but just wanted to make sure I'm getting a decent deal. It's Dell refurbished model for £2700 (~$3900) but I should be able to get 10% off.

    Specs are:

    Precision M7710
    Intel® Xeon® E3-1535M
    64GB (4x16GB) 2133MHz DDR4 SoDIMM ECC
    Nvidia Quadro M5000M 8GB GDDR5
    2 x 1TB PCIe Solid State Drive
    UltraSharp UHD IGZO (3840x2160)
    Intel 8260 Dual band 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.1
Battery 6-cell Lithium Ion (72WHr) with Express Charge

    What do you think?

    Thanks!

I would say that is a very good deal compared to the normal online store (non outlet). It is very similar configured to what I ordered for our two 7710 through the regular store except your price in outlet is much better than what I paid. We got ours with the 512GB PCIe "high performance" ssd as the system drive with a 1TB PCIe as the data drive. Express charge battery would be a nice feature to have, but I ultimately went with a long cycle poly battery instead.

I would suggest Pro Support (or whatever they call it), especially since it is refurbished. You don't want to hassle with warranty repairs if they are needed.

    Hello,

Consultant advices vPro mobile workstations for start-up of around 120 PCs -
would like to know whether new Dell precision lines 7710, 7510, 5510, 3510 have vPro options available to build to order?
    Anyone got any clue?

Great to have found this forum and nice to meet you.
    Cheers!

Intel vPro availability depends on the CPU chip.

When it is available, it may be in the Dell configuration page under
    "Systems Management".

Using the Intel ARK Processor Feature Filter it looks like the CPUs with
    - code name Skylake,
    - vertical segment mobile
    - vPro yes

    are

    E3-1575M v5
    E3-1545M v5
    E3-1535M v5
    E3-1515M v5
    E3-1505M v5

I was wondering the same thing. But I am not sure that Dell offer the m5500m at all. AMD Polaris generation is around the corner and nVidia Pascal based mobile cards (GP104 and GP106 based) may not be too far off as well. I am also beginning to doubt that we will see an Xeon e3-1545m or e3-1575m option for the 7710 since the larger die would probably require a reworked cooler and demand is probably not too high.

With the new graphics ships around the corner and Kaby Lake mass production starting next month, maybe Dell will concentrate on a future Precision 7810 arriving in winter.

Kaby Lake isn't going to enter production in earnest until the end of 2016 (if things at Intel do not slip further), we will likely see Precision 7720 with Pascal-based Quadro GPUs in early spring next year. As for Quadro M5500M, Dell doesn't usually change the graphics card lineup mid-generation, but they have added a new top option before (I think they added Quadro 5000M to the Precision M6500 after it had been around for a while), so who knows...
